Relocating to Benchlands Alberta

Located along forestry trunk road or highway 40 just outside of Waiparous Village and an hour from Banff is the small community of Benchlands. This hamlet is within the municipal district of Bighorn No. 8 and it's nestled next to the Ghost River and Highway 40. This is the original homestead of Guy Gibson, who served in the 31st Battalion during World War I. He chose this area for veterans because of its peacefulness and mountainous beauty. Gibson built log cabins in the area and so large lots to Calgary residents and even after his death, the cabins grew and flourished on the benches of the Ghost River. The hamlet began development in the mid-1930s and is primarily large residential lots.

In addition there is a fire hall, library, a lagoon near Ghost River perfect for skating, a community hall available for rentals, and the Guy Gibson Benchlands community Association.
