Canmore has a variety of events spanning all year round & boredom has no place in this beautiful town.

From December 4th to December 31st 2015, Our town comes alive with Christmas in Canmore festival events which feature the Christmas block party, advent calendar of deals, Christmas night market, winter bike progressive dinner and much more. Shopping stores and boutiques compete in a Christmas decorating contest to show case the best decorated, well lit displays of lighting to guarantee a great experience for event seekers every night. Here is a look at some of the Canmore Christmas Events to bring you a whole new experience during this holiday season.

Christmas block party

On Friday December 4th from 6pm to 8pm, kick off of this year’s Christmas in Canmore takes place at the Christmas block party. You can join the long month festival launching that will take place at 7th avenue and a variety of events will take place which involves a live rocking band, stilt walkers, fire dancers, hot chocolate, food and many more. The event venue is at civic Centre plaza and is open for all ages with absolutely no charges in fact admission is by donation. It is also important to note that there will be something to entertain the kids too; there will be story time during the Christmas block party.

Advent calendar of deals

When in Canmore, you can sign up the advent calendar and you will be able to receive a daily super deal from retails shops, food and beverage outlet or any activity provider. This is a fun way of anticipating for every day leading to Christmas as this runs throughout the festive season. After subscribing to the advent calendar mailing list, you will expect to receive daily deals via your mail. Daily deals will be mailed every morning as from the first date, December 4th to 31st the last day of Canmore Christmas events.


Christmas night market

On Saturday December 12th from 5pm to 10pm, you can also have a chance of celebrating a great Christmas outdoor night market at Canmore. With over 30 vendors across Bow Valley and around Alberta, shopping lovers can take the opportunity to buy whatever you need from new clothing, accessories, outdoor apparel, photography name them. There is basically something for anyone to buy. You can also buy gifts and home decorations to remind you of the great experience of this beautiful town. Shopping is easy here as most of the shops have the friendliest people who can offer assistance and help you find the exact thing you are looking for.

Breakfast with Santa

This event sells out each year!  A delicious breakfast with Santa will be followed by a professional photo with Santa.  Live music for the kids by Stratus.  Each child’s admission will include a chance to win a playhouse! Moonlight madness

This is yet another interesting event for shopping lovers; it is a one day only event that takes place on Friday 11th until 10pm. You can’t afford to miss this as most businesses open up till late and you can take advantage of the moonlight madness for your late night shopping venture. Outdoor Christmas movies

For movie enthusiasts this event is the bomb, every Sunday during Christmas in Canmore, Avalanche movies will be presenting an outdoor Christmas movie. This would be an appropriate opportunity to hang out with your family as the vacant lot on Main Street is converted into an outdoor movie theatre. You can come along with your blanket and seat beside the fire as you enjoy the family friendly Christmas movies. There would be enough popcorn doing rounds as there will be a popcorn machine. What a beautiful way to spend your Sunday evenings during Christmas in Canmore.

Winter bike progressive dinner

On Tuesday December 8th from 5:30pm to 9pm, you can be party to a winter bike progressive dinner event. This event will be guided by Sara Renner a local Olympian. You will cycle on you winter bike to four different restaurants in this great adventurers tour. The evening event kicks off at the Grizzly Paw Brewery at 5:30pm where you will check in and enjoy a beverage and there after continue with the progressive dinner tour. The event finally ends at 9pm as the guide will guide you back to your starting point.

Paint night

This would be a thrilling event for upcoming artists; just within two hours you will be given an opportunity to turn that plain white canvas into an adorable piece of art with the help of an able instructor. You will be carefully taken through every stage and by the end of the evening; you will finally finish with a 14 by 18 painted canvas that you can take home with you. As an upcoming artist you can use this chance to unleash your inner potential as far as art is concerned. It should be noted that this event is only applicable to persons of 18 years and above and there is no experience required. This event will take place in four separate locations:

  • On December 7th from 7pm to 9pm it will be held at Grizzly Paw Brewery
  • On Wednesday December 9th it will be held at The Market Bistro
  • On Monday December 14th it will be held at Tavern and finally
  • On Wednesday December 16th it will be held at Where the Buffalo Roam
